Class List and Descriptions

Classes subject to change. Class selections are on a first-come, first-served basis. Class lists will be available closer to the Education Day. CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES!

Class A: Law Enforcement Basics

A basic overview of the police profession in an open forum style. (25)

Class B: Breaking Through Traditional Roles - A NEW Challenge!

 Feeding a growing world is one of the most vital needs for the future! In this session, students will have fun “breaking out” of lock boxes (similar to an escape room) while learning about many career paths that are available to them and how these jobs relate to agriculture and feeding the world. Come and be challenged. Limit 24 Students. (25)

Class C: US Customs & Border Protection (CBP)

Present a brief overview of a “day in the life” of a CBP officer followed by an opportunity to participate in a hands on demonstration of handcuffing. Limit 16 Students. (25)

Class D: Wildlife Tracks

Learn how to read animal tracks to report what animals are present in an area. Limit 24 Students. (25)

Class E: Nutrition Education

Learn about my plate and nutrition. Why is it important, how it affects our bodies, and all the nutrients in fruites and vegetables. Play Fruit & Vege Bingo. Limit 24 Students. (25)

 

Class F: Money Works

Students will be given a budget and have to choose where they want to spend money. This will include rent/mortgage, food, transportation, electronics, clothing and any other extras. Limit 24 Students. (25)

Class G: The Mystery of Safety Pup's Missing Food Bowl

Safety Pup has discovered their food bowl is missing right before dinner. A “crime scene: is set up with taped outline of where the bowl was, paw prints, and a tipped over trail of kibble. The “detectives” will work through various stations to gather clues to discover the mystery of what really happened to Safety Pup’s food bowl.  Limit  16 Students. (25)

Class H: Young Workers - Talking Safety

Let’s talk about safety for young workers. Your first job could come with real risks. Limit 24 Students. (25)

Class I: Bright Futures: Exploring Energy in North Dakota

In this session, students will explore the many forms of energy and learn how North Dakota generates electricity and other power sources. The class will build a foundation for understanding how energy is created, transformed, and used in our daily lives, while highlighting its role in improving our communities and quality of life. Through interactive, hands-on activities, students will experience how energy works in action. The session will also introduce career patheways in North Dakota’s growing energy sector, showing how STEM skills connect to exciting opportunities and prepare students for the future. Limit to 24 Students. (25)

Class J: Become a Marketing Wiz!

By the end of this 20-minute class, students will understand the basics of marketing, how to identify target audiences, and create a fun marketing plan for a product they love. (25)

Class K: Makerspace Challenges

Join us for makerspace challenges including gravitrax, a marble run and more. Limit 24 Students. (25)

Class M: Introduction to Massage Therapy

Find out what massage therapy is all about. Muscles and bones, self-care, hot stones, massage techniques, oh my! Limit 16 Students. (25)

Class N: Agricultural Animal Anatomy

Anatomy of various animals in Agriculture. Horse, cow, pig, chicken, dog, cat. Limit 18 Students. (25)

Class O: Operation LifeSaver/Railroad Safety

Railroad Safety, trespass prevention, and how to report emergencies that occur while on or near railroad property.  (25)

Class P: Airport Adventures

Showing videos of Airshow performers past and present, then having students guess which performers would be capable of performing specific maneuvers. (25)

Class Q: Land Surveying and Mapping

A look inside the profession of Land Surveying and how we, as Professional Land Surveyors, help build the world around us by using technology such as Laser Scanners, Robots, GPS and Drones.  (25)

Class R: Financial Footings: Earn it

Interactive session, led by the character FIN-B, helps learners explore how people earn money, different career paths, and the basics of entrepreneurship. (25) 

Class S: Obstacle Course

The obstacle course will take place in the ARC Turf. Kids will get to move their bodies while having fun exercising. (25)

Class T: Seeds of North Dakota

This is a discovery of many of the agricultural products produced in North Dakota with a hands-on portion for student discovery of the different agricultural seeds and the consumer products they provide. Limit 16 Students. (25)

Class U: Fire Fighter and EMT

Explore the basics of being a firefighter/EMT, go through some equipment and answer any questions. (25)

Class V: Build Your Own Landfill

Basic operations of our landfill. Students will get to learn as they build their own edible landfill. Limit 24 Students. (25)

Class X: Funeral Director

Let’s explore the job of being a Funeral Director. (25)

Class Y: Highway 101

Learn how roads are built and kept clear. Learn about the technology and equipment used by the NDDOT. (25)

Class Z: The Forces of Aviation

Learn about the Four forces of flight and build a chuck glider and launch them with your friends. Construct your own foam board airplane with the help of students from Williston Basin Career and Tech Center. Limited to 24 Students. (25)

Class CC: How to Start a Business

Learn what SBDC can do to help you become an entrepreneur. (25)
