Class List and Descriptions
Classes subject to change. Class selections are on a first-come, first-served basis. Class list will be available closer to the Education Day. CHECK BACK FOR DETAILS!
Class A: Main Street ND

Learn HOW, WHAT, WHEN & WHY to start your own 21st Century Business in today’s technological world. Learn to recognize your strenghts AND weaknesses and how to attract and retain the people you need to compete and succeed. (22)

Class B: Safety Super Heroes!

Learn how Safety Professionals can be super heroes of the workplace. Learn how we eliminated hazards and save lives and money! (22)

Class C: Electrical Motors/Circuits

For this class we will use two 20-minute sessions to explain how electric motors work and each student will build a simple electric motor that they can take home with them. Each student will build a motor kit, and then run the motor using a battery to learn how magnetism and electricity make a motor turn. Limit of 8 Students. Circuits is a 20 minute session where we will explain how an electic circuit works to turn on a light. Students will build a simple circuit they can take home. The project will have a battery, a switch, and a lamp they will connect with wire and be able to turn the light on and off. Limit of 8 Students. (22)

Class D: Lessons About Your Money

The more you know about how to make money, how to save money, and how to spend money, the less likely it is that you will have money problems as an adult. Do you know people who never seem to have enough money? If you don’t want to live that way, listen up. We have some good information to share with you today. Students will get the opportunity to look at and learn about foreign currency. (22)

Class E: Power Plant Puzzle

Students will pair up in a team building exercise that utilizes their mechanical skills. They assemble nuts, bolts, linkage, and PVC into a replica of an original puzzle. (22)

Class F: 1930 Kinetic Energy Spool

Make a small, handmade mechanical marvel. (22)

Class G: ND Farm Service Agency Talks Agriculture and Safety

We will take youth down the road of all things Agriculture! Including hands-on agriculture activities as well as providing some farm safety tips and teaching them about the United States Department of Agriculture! Limited to 16 Students. (22)

Class H: Argriculture 101

Planning to cover the wide variety of jobs related to agriculture; production, sciences, plants, animals, soil, health, marketing, business, media, insurance, natural resources as well as discuss North Dakota related agriculture facts and how to find the truth from credible sources about agriculture. (22)

Class I: Snowmobile Safety Education

Conduct an overview of basic snowmobile operation (no hands-on) as well as discuss cold weather survival. We will review how to appropriately dress in cold weather, what items a snowmobile rider should take with them while riding and, time permitting, build a paper model of a snowmobile. Limited to 16 Students.  (22)

Class J: Food Safety 101

Learn about different food safety career options where you can make a difference keeping our food safe to eat. We’ll also dive into hands-on safety deomonstrations and a fun challenge. Limited to 16 Students. (22)

Class K: Get Your Teach On

Get Your Teach On will give you a glimpse of what it takes to be a teacher and what types of careers you can pursue. You will become the teacher with a hands-on activity. Do YOU have what it takes? Limited to 16 Students. (22)

Class L: Catapult Launch

Learn about catapults and gain an understanding of the physics that make catapults work. Then build your own catapult and compete against your class for distance and accuracy. (22)

Class M: Social Work

Discussion with possible short video. (22)

Class N: Seed Engineering

Most plants reproduce with seeds, which come in all shapes and sizes. Plants have developed ways to disperse these seeds, giving the new plant a better chance to find what it needs to grow. Students will be given a variety of art supplies to engineer their own “seed” to float in water, fly through the air, explode, or be carried by wind. (22)

Class O: Exploring Careers in Virtual Reality

This class will provide students with an opportunity to become familiar with 360-degree and virtual reality media and to explore several careers through a series of virtual reality experiences. Available experiences will include careers in energy, healthcare, construction and more. Limited to 8 Students. (22)

Class P: Nursing & Healthcare

Education requirements, job demand, job security, pay range, field opportunties. (22)

Class Q: Physical Therapy is Fun!

Learn what Physical Therapy is and why it’s a great job when you grown up! Hands on activities will include various stretches and exercises that a physical therapist would use during a typical treatment session. (22)

Class R: Video Production and Ariel Drone Footage

Presenters will cover what equipment and certification is needed for doing video production LIVE and with Drone Operations. (22)

Class S: Emergency Services - EMS & Fire Rescue

This class will provide students a glimpse into EMS and Fire Rescue careers. (22)
